How to Select a Cat Bed
by Helen Greene
- First of all you will need to know how big your cat bed will
need to be. While your cat is curled up measure the space he or
she takes up and then add a square foot.
- Choose the type you want. Do you want a flat bed for your cat,
or would you prefer one with sides? You could also choose a cat
trampoline bed or a cat hammock, or even a cat condo if you think
your cat will like it.
- Pay attention to the cover. To be comfortable, it should be
a soft fabric such as fleece or velour. If you want to be able
to wash the cover it will need to be removable.
- If you live in a very cold area consider buying a heated cat
bed.
- Work out how much you want to spend. Allow around $20 - $30
for standard beds, $30 - $40 for something more luxurious, and
around $60 - $100 for a decent heated bed.
- The final arbiter will be your cat! Be guided by what they like
sleeping on now. Do they prefer a hard surface to sleep on, or
a fluffy one? Do they sleep stretched out or curled up? Do they
like to be up high or down low? Take these things into account
when deciding which to purchase.
