Supplies

  • YARN A - 3 Skeins in Mily Way - Bernat Yarns Galaxy (77% Acrylic / 8% Polyester / 7.5% Mohair / 7.5% Alpaca ; 1.75 oz / 60 yds)

  • YARN B - 3 Skeins in Comet - Bernat Yarns Galaxy (77% Acrylic / 8% Polyester / 7.5% Mohair / 7.5% Alpaca ; 1.75 oz / 60 yds)

  • Circular Knitting Needle - Size US 15, 29".

  • Crochet Hook - Size J Knitted Cat Bed

  • Stitch Marker

  • 15" square pillow

Details
Gauge - 7 sts = 4"

Directions
With circular knitting needle, cast on 50 stitches working with yarn A and B held together. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker on needle to indicate beginning of round.

Round 1-5: *K5, P5* around
Round 6-10: *P5, K5* around
Repeat rounds 1-10 5 times, or until pillow will comfortably fit into and is covered by the tube you have knitted.
Bind off.
Finishing

Using the size J crochet hook, work 1 row of single crochet seaming one side of the tube together. Place the pillow inside the tube and work 1 row of single crochet to close the opening.

Attach fringe (both A and B yarn) of desired length to the four corners.

Optional: With scrap yarn of similar weight, work two rows of sc around top of bed to add some color.  To make corners "stick out", work 4 dc at each of three corners.

You can make this kitty bed with any yarn and appropriate hook size.  Choose a crochet hook a bit smaller than what the yarn calls for.
